hey everyone.. i am new to this forum.. have been building models for a while now but couple years ago decided on trucks.. so have decided to share my build of my latest model.. it is a italeri scania r620.. i started with the chassis i got a twin drive set from kfs.. added some extra detail with air lines using 0.2mm security cable and made the t pieces from 2mm evergreen rod(not sure if accurate but it looks good i think haha).. then on to the engine trying to find refrence pictures was quite difficult so as much as i could followed them then added a few extra bits and pices of my own just to fill up the space a bit using single cores of 2.5mm cable 1.6mm evergreen rod 0.2mm security cable and fishing wire.. anyways let me know what you think and i will post more as i get it done.. thank you.. nic

Hi and welcome, That looks good, every one here builds to there own standard, and that looks very high. We've seen some good stuff coming from that part of the world, looks like they have a bit more competition. Have a look on page 12 or 13 for NZ Jamie's 142 it'll give you a bit of heads up.

hey everyone.. progress update.. slow goin but getting there.. making the battery box wanted to add detail so was thinking maybe can display in open position.. scratch build some batteries and wiring with clamps and left seperate for painting.. the bottom of the box had to add a base as the kit one wasnt flat for the batteries to sit.. scratch built a cab tilt pump with removable bar and hydraulic detail.. air tank added with plumbing.. on the step i had to raise it up a little bit to make it work so used 1.5mm plastic card around edges.. am waiting for a test fit before more trimming.. according to reference pictures of the real truck i am trying to build the R620 has twin 400ltr fuel tanks either side of the chassis.. so the kit one was not going to do.. so made two tanks to measurements but forgot to allow for the thickness of the card (1.5mm) so ended up being 3mm too big width and height.. to compensate for this i am going to mount slightly closer to chassis than first planned but then found it fouled on the suspension hanger.. to off put this i cut the corner off at 45degrees.. i know this might not be correct but will hopfully work out.. this is still in process still sanding got to fill gaps etc then make straps and attach after painting then detail with caps and lines.. on the previous photos on the chassis have mounted the KFS ad-blue bracket and new style exhaust silencer bracket.. i am just waiting on the correct style rear wings to arrive so can do electrical wiring and placement then will start on painting that.. sorry about the novel but hope this explains it all.. any comments welcome.. nic

Nice work Nic, you're doing a bang up job on that chassis and engine detail!... I kinda do a bare minimum, where I have to,.. I'll make you a deal, you can do all my plumbing and i'll do your paint and graphics!!!

Great You do a lot of scratchbuilding. Scratchbuilding always makes model outstanding and unique, especially when You do Italeri Scania R - model with 4 series chassis and interior. Very nice job Nic.

Love the detail, thanks for taking the time to explain how you're going about it to, I find this sort of build great to learn from and its interesting to see how different people approach things. This will be an impressive build when your done.

Very nice work Nic, wish I had the skill and patience to attempt that level of chassis detail.
Its a shame they didnt update the motor when they made the 4 and R series kits.
