Thanks: 1 times
Is it possible to assemble the outer cab panels of the Italeri 1/24 Scania R620 ATELIER 3850 seperate from the interior of the cab and then place it over the top?
In the instructions it shows it being assembled around the cab interior, but I have just been looking through the photos on here, and noticed the cab being assembled seperately.
I'm not sure if i've read the instructions incorrectly or not, but dont want to get it wrong

Cheers

Steve

you can assemble it both ways,,its better for spraying or painting to assemble cab first,,then push interior in,,spray or paint the roof seperate and fit it last easier to fit the windows, this way steve Think gerry

Hello Steve,
I always assemble the cab completly, with the roof and with the interior cab panels. That makes it a lot easier to prime and paint the cab. After the painting job is done, I fit the windows and the dashboard. Then, the last part is to put the bottom plate, with the seats on it, from underneed. Good luck. Danny

Howard is the specialist on building Scania cabs...however, I will give it a bit of a go.

If you glue the door panels to the insides of the doors and then try to insert the floor pan with the dashboard attached, the dash will catch on the door pockets. The way around this is to cut off the front corner of the door pockets (which can't be seen anyway), or to glue the dash into the cab before inserting the floor panel (like Danny does).

I've also seen builders who actually glue the door panels to the floor pan -- I've not tried that yet, although I did try that trick with one of Howard's update kits, and it worked fine.

When I built my McFadyens Scania I just trimmed down the door panels with the knife and glued them to the cab floor, making sure that they never stuck out any further than the floor pan, so they didnt catch when inserting into the cab from below. They sat pretty close to the cab doors when inserted, so it didnt look any different.
I think Howards R series updated interior kit is the proper door panels and are thinner anyway.

Hello Steve,

As a Scania sales men, it is against my religion to built other cabs than Scania's. I've tried it in al the different possible ways. I'am convinced that the most practical way to assemble a Scania cab is to glue the whole cabine inclusiding the door panels. Than glue, after painting, the windows. After that, the dashboard and then insert the floorpan. If you attach the dashboard to the floorpan, you will indeed have problems to pass the door panels. Danny
